The Habits app is based on science. Psychologists have researched how we develop new habits. This app is based on this research. One principle this app uses is the smallest possible habit that is easy enough to achieve but impactful enough to enable the creation of other habits. We also use a structure that anchors the habit to a situation and a reward.

Other habit trackers are often just a todo list manager. This app is designed to develop, establish and cement a habit. While other apps let you tick off a habit this one shows you your persistence towards the goal of 66 days. We know that this approach works better than just a todo list.

WHY 66 DAYS?

Forming habits takes time. 66 days seems to be the optimal number of days for the habit to really stick. After about 20 days you are at the highest risk of giving up. The app will try hard to keep you on track. After 66 days you will mastering your new habit.

WHAT IS A SITUATION?

A situation is what happens just before or straight after the habit. Let’s say you go to brush your teeth then a situation could be “when I enter the bathroom”. So over time when you enter the bathroom you will automatically thinking “I should brush my teeth”.

WHAT IS A REWARD?

A reward is something you should do immediately after the habit. Let’s say you want to “Go to bed before 10pm” then the reward could be “Read a funny short story for 5 min”. Over time going to bed will be something you look forward to.
